Reading Farmer Boy inspired us to make our own butter. Of course we had to start with cream from the grocery and not real stuff from the cow. Maybe one day if Ban Bess gets a cow we can do our own milkin' too. Hank was very into this project. He couldn't wait to taste the creamy result.
Hank showing off the ingredient: heavy cream. Of course we all had a little taste before putting it in the food processor. It took me back to eating lunch at Goggy's office and mom letting me drink the little sip size of half and halves that they used to put in their coffee.
Watching the butter separate.
The butter and the "butter milk." Maybe we will use it to make pancakes tomorrow.

Hank decided it needed a little salt so here he is stirring some in. He was right it did make it quite tasty.

Final taste test: Delicious!

i want the recipe! actually, i should wait till im pregnant to make that so that i can use that as my excuse to eat the whole thing. i love heavy cream and i love butter so this cant be a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteit is just heavy cream ... it didn't work in our blender so i did it in the food processor. it takes about 5 minutes of whipping. you can just shake it in a jar until the butter separates from the watery liquid. we added a touch of salt and it was delic. i am sure you could experiment with different flavors like a rosemary garlic butter or a sweet butter ... hmm. i am with you ... YUM! and dangerous :)
