We have slowly read through the first 5 books in the Chronicles of Narnia this summer and fall. The stories provide a fun world in which to get lost and then remember who we are. We have been both reading them and listening to them on CD in the car so it seems we are always in the middle of one of the stories for the first or even third time. For Halloween it was only fitting for the kids to want to be King Peter, King Edmund and Queen Lucy! It is a deep prayer of mine and Corby's that they will walk together through similar journeys and find the same endings as these Narnian Kings and Queens!
I found myself feeling a little sad the day of Halloween missing Hazel Ave and all the traditions we had established in Glenside. But the night really turned out great! We connected with 3 other kindergarten boys in the neighborhood and their families and made our way around as a big group. The kids had a blast! A young newly married couple who is in our homegroup came over and handed out candy and apple cider at our house and Corby and I enjoyed hanging out with them post kids bedtime! Thankful.
